These days many mail providers (AOL, Comcast, Yahoo!, Juno, etc.) are requiring that administrators of email services provide a human "feedback loop" so that they can contact a problematic domain's administrator directly rather than trying to go through the upstream ISP.
One of the requirements for many of these "feedback loop" services is a written privacy policy. This page attempts to lay out a privacy policy for Ithryn and all of the domains hosted by Ithryn Networks.
The Policy
- Ithryn is not a commercial marketing firm. We are a bunch of computer geeks to like to do geeky things with technology. Marketing is not one of those things. Therefore we have no intention of sending out unsolicited email from our servers.
- Ithryn does not intentionally store personally identifiable information (PII) other than usernames, real names and email addresses. However, PII may be inadvertently stored in backup archives or old krufty files on the servers that were put there before PII was an issue. It is the user's responsibility to grep for their information or ask an admin to do so if they don't have the necessary permissions.
- Ithryn's admins will never sell your information.
- Users are free to store PII on our system at their own risk. We will not audit for PII.
- While we try to keep our systems as secure as possible and probably more secure than most security breaches do happen. We take no responsibility for data that is lost or stolen during a breach.
- We reserve the right to remove a user or account from the system at anytime for any reason.
- Our feelings won't be hurt if you decide our services aren't professional enough for you. If you choose to discontinue hosting with Ithryn Network you will be welcomed back at any time.
Opting Out of Mailing Lists
Ithryn runs a number of "Mailman" mailing lists. If you are on one of these mailing lists and would like to "opt-out" please visit the Mailman management page: http://ithryn.net/mailman/listinfo.
